The Newark Senior Center will be hosting their 5th Annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser on Sunday, February 12, 2012.  At the event attendees will receive a handmade bowl or mug donated by local potters and art students and an all you can eat buffet of soups, bread and desserts donated by local restaurants. Proceeds from the event will be used to support the Newark Senior Center Meals on Wheels Program. 

Each year the Newark Senior Center Meals on Wheels program provides over 35,000 meals to homebound seniors in the Greater Newark area.  These meals are delivered by a group of dedicated volunteers who not only provide clients with a hot meal each day, but also provide a way to check in on those who are home alone and may otherwise not have contact with the outside world.
